Hino 817 300 Series Front E-Locker Kit – Unfitted

The Hino 817 300 Series Front E-Locker is an electronically controlled locking differential designed to provide on-demand front-axle traction for compatible Hino 817 4x4 vehicles.

Under normal driving conditions, the E-Locker operates as an open differential. When additional traction is required, the driver can activate the locker electronically, converting the differential to a fully locked configuration and distributing the available torque equally to both ends of the front axle.

This product is supplied unfitted.

Key Features

  • Designed for the front axle of the Hino 817 300 Series
  • Driver-selectable electronic differential locking
  • Operates as an open differential when disengaged
  • Provides full differential lock when activated
  • Captures 100% of available torque when locked and sends it equally to both ends of the axle
  • Patented positive electronic locking system
  • Electromagnetic locking mechanism
  • Push-button traction control
  • Precision-forged differential gears
  • 4-pinion differential design
  • Drop-in installation design
  • Rebuildable construction
  • No external module required
  • No air compressor required
  • No pneumatic hoses or airlines required
  • Designed to enhance off-road and towing performance

Open Differential During Normal Driving

When the E-Locker is switched off, it functions as a conventional open differential. This allows normal differential action between the left and right front wheels during everyday vehicle operation.

The locking function remains available on demand when additional traction is required.

Full Lock on Demand

Activating the E-Locker engages its electromagnetic locking mechanism and converts the differential from open operation to a full locker.

When locked, 100% of the available differential torque is captured and distributed equally to both ends of the front axle, providing positive drive to both front wheels.

Electronic Push-Button Operation

The E-Locker is electrically activated, allowing the driver to select open or locked differential operation as required.

Push-button operation provides a simple means of accessing additional front-axle traction when challenging terrain is encountered.

No Compressor or Airlines Required

The electronic locking mechanism eliminates the need for the pneumatic equipment associated with an air-operated differential locker.

The E-Locker requires no external air compressor or pneumatic hoses for operation and does not require an external locking module.

Precision-Forged Gears

The E-Locker uses precision-forged gears designed to mesh accurately while providing increased strength and durability compared with conventional cut gears.

The internal differential uses a 4-pinion design for a robust arrangement suited to demanding 4x4 applications.

Drop-In & Rebuildable Design

The differential is designed as a drop-in E-Locker assembly for its specified Hino front-axle application.

Its rebuildable construction also allows the differential assembly to be serviced rather than functioning as a non-serviceable unit.

Off-Road Traction

The E-Locker is designed specifically for 4-wheel-drive applications where additional traction may be required to negotiate challenging terrain.

Typical situations where selectable differential locking can be beneficial include rocky tracks, mud, uneven terrain and other conditions where maximum available front-axle traction is required.

Towing & Off-Road Performance

The E-Locker is designed to enhance both towing and off-road performance by giving the driver the ability to select full front differential lock when additional traction is needed.

When additional traction is no longer required, the locker can be disengaged and the differential returns to normal open operation.
