GXO Red Anderson 50A Additional Solar Supply Input to Victron MPPT – Fitted

The GXO Red Anderson 50A Additional Solar Supply Input provides a dedicated connection point for a compatible 24V unregulated solar panel. The external solar panel is wired directly to the vehicle’s Victron MPPT solar charge controller, allowing the controller to regulate the incoming solar power for the vehicle’s battery system.

The red two-pole Anderson connector is mounted externally on the front right-hand side of the motorhome and fitted with a waterproof protective cover. This provides convenient access to the solar input without requiring entry into an internal electrical compartment.

The input is professionally mounted, electrically connected and operationally tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.

Key Features

  • Dedicated input for a compatible 24V unregulated solar panel
  • Solar input wired directly to the Victron MPPT solar charge controller
  • Red Anderson 50A two-pole connector
  • Externally mounted on the front right-hand side of the motorhome
  • Fitted with a waterproof protective cover
  • Provides an accessible connection for an additional solar panel
  • Professionally fitted and tested by AAV4x4

External Additional Solar Connection

The fitted connector provides an accessible plug-in point for a compatible 24V unregulated solar panel. The incoming solar supply is connected directly to the photovoltaic input of the vehicle’s Victron MPPT solar charge controller rather than directly to the battery.

This allows an additional solar panel to supplement the vehicle’s existing solar-generation capacity while retaining the voltage regulation and battery-charging control provided by the MPPT.

24V Unregulated Solar Panel Input

This connection is intended for a compatible 24V unregulated solar panel. An unregulated panel supplies its raw photovoltaic output to the MPPT controller, which then regulates that power to suit the connected battery system.

A portable solar panel with its own regulator must not be assumed to be compatible with this input. The connected panel must remain within the photovoltaic voltage, current and power limits of the Victron MPPT installed in the motorhome.

Anderson 50A Connector

The Anderson-style connector uses a two-pole design and mates with a compatible connector of the same size and mechanical keying. The red housing provides a clear visual distinction from other Anderson connections that may be fitted to the vehicle.

The 50A designation refers to the connector class. It does not mean that the solar system can accept a continuous 50A input. The permitted solar input is determined by the connected panel, wiring and Victron MPPT specifications.

Victron MPPT Solar Charging

MPPT stands for Maximum Power Point Tracking. The Victron MPPT solar charge controller continually adjusts the operating point of the connected solar panel to obtain the available solar power efficiently.

The controller then regulates the panel output into the voltage and current required by the vehicle’s compatible battery system. The exact photovoltaic voltage, current and power limits depend on the Victron MPPT model installed in the motorhome.

External Mounting and Waterproof Cover

The red Anderson connector is mounted externally on the front right-hand side of the motorhome. This position allows the additional solar panel to be connected without opening an internal storage or electrical compartment.

A waterproof protective cover is fitted over the connector and should remain securely closed whenever the additional solar input is not in use.

Professional Installation

This additional solar input is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:

  • External mounting of the red Anderson 50A connector on the front right-hand side of the motorhome
  • Installation of the waterproof protective cover
  • Electrical connection directly to the compatible Victron MPPT photovoltaic input
  • Polarity verification
  • Operational testing after installation

Important Note

This connection is intended for a compatible 24V unregulated solar panel wired directly to the Victron MPPT. It is not a general-purpose 12V or 24V accessory outlet.

The connected solar panel must have the correct polarity and remain within the maximum photovoltaic voltage, current and power limits of the Victron MPPT installed in the motorhome.

The 50A connector designation does not increase the permitted input capacity of the MPPT, wiring or existing solar system. The lowest-rated component determines the allowable solar input.

The waterproof cover should remain securely closed whenever the additional solar input is disconnected.
