The STEDI Type-X™ EVO Spot/Flood LED Driving Lights – Pair, Professionally Fitted by AAV4x4 combine two dedicated beam patterns to provide both concentrated long-range visibility and broad lateral illumination. The fitted package uses one Type-X™ EVO Spot driving light and one Type-X™ EVO Flood driving light, creating a versatile lighting arrangement for highway travel, remote touring and off-road driving.
Each 8.5-inch light contains 44 CREE LEDs and draws 150W. The Spot lamp directs all 44 LEDs through narrow 5.8-degree pencil-beam optics, while the Flood lamp uses 44 wide 50-degree spread optics. Together, they provide strong forward projection from the Spot and broad coverage through the critical mid-range driving area from the Flood.
The lights are supplied with their mounting hardware, protective blackout covers, interchangeable colour fascias and individual storage cases, then professionally installed and tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.
The Type-X™ EVO range uses separate Spot and Flood models so each light can be optimised for a particular purpose. This fitted package combines one of each beam type rather than using two identical lights.
This mixed configuration provides a practical balance for drivers who encounter changing conditions and require more than maximum distance or maximum width alone.
The Spot light directs all 44 CREE LEDs through focused 5.8-degree pencil-beam optics. Its narrow beam prioritises forward distance and central intensity, making it useful on highways, open country roads and long sections of remote track.
A matched pair of Type-X™ EVO Spot lights can produce a manufacturer-specified beam throw of up to 1,470 metres. This package contains one Spot light combined with one Flood light, so the fitted beam also gains the broader lateral coverage of the dedicated Flood lamp.
The Flood light directs all 44 LEDs through 50-degree spread optics. This creates an elongated horizontal beam positioned across the horizon, placing useful illumination through the road shoulders and surrounding critical zones.
A single Type-X™ EVO Flood projects its broad horizontal beam beyond 475 metres. The wide pattern is particularly useful on winding roads, bush tracks and areas where animals or obstacles may approach from outside the centre of the road.
The Type-X™ EVO Flood is designed to concentrate light within the mid-range area where drivers need to recognise a hazard and respond. It complements the Spot lamp by illuminating areas that sit outside the narrow centre of a long-range pencil beam.
Combining the two patterns helps reduce the tunnel-like effect that can occur when using long-range Spot lights alone, while retaining strong visibility further down the road.
Each Type-X™ EVO driving light contains 44 LEDs from CREE's XP range. Both models use the same LED count, electrical requirements and housing design, with the difference created by their dedicated optical systems.
Each light draws approximately 12.5A at 13.2V and consumes 150W, giving the pair a combined nominal power draw of 300W.
Both lights produce a 5000K white output. This provides clear definition of road surfaces, tracks, vegetation and surrounding terrain without relying on an excessively cool or blue-toned light.
The Type-X™ EVO housing is designed to provide substantial lighting performance from a relatively compact 8.5-inch package. Its carefully shaped silhouette minimises overall height compared with many conventional driving lights, helping it suit bull bars where available space is restricted.
The sculpted housing, metallic outer bezel and three-dimensional lens are designed to complement the angular lines found on modern four-wheel drives and commercial vehicles.
Each light features a sculpted three-dimensional primary lens. The upper and lower lens surfaces use different angles, contributing to the distinctive shape of the Type-X™ EVO while supporting the dedicated internal optics.
The Spot and Flood versions share the same external appearance, creating a visually matched pair even though their beam patterns serve different purposes.
A layered bezel design positions the structural seal beneath the external trim. This concealed sealing arrangement protects the internal components while allowing the housing to retain its distinctive depth and profile.
The completed lights carry an IP68 ingress-protection rating and are specified as submersible to a depth of up to three metres.
The Type-X™ EVO housing incorporates an updated heat-dissipation system that transfers operating heat away from the LEDs. This supports stable performance when the lights are used for extended periods.
Each light is supported by a gusseted cast-aluminium bracket with a stable three-bolt mounting arrangement. Slotted holes in the bracket base assist with positioning and allow fitment with a minimum of approximately 18mm clearance from the vehicle grille.
The three-bolt design provides a secure mounting footprint intended to maintain light alignment over rough roads and corrugated tracks when attached to a suitable supporting structure.
Graphite-grey and deep-orange colour fascias are included for both lights. The fascia design allows the colour trim to be changed without using an Allen key or dismantling the main housing.
The supplied protective blackout covers can be fitted over the lenses when the lights are not in use.
AAV4x4 installs the Spot and Flood lights as a matched pair, positions the housings for the required beam direction and connects the system to the vehicle's high-beam circuit using an appropriate wiring configuration.
Once installed, the lights are secured, aligned and tested. The final mounting and wiring arrangement depends on the vehicle, bull bar, available clearance and existing electrical system.
Important: This product includes a fitted pair configured with one Spot light and one Flood light. Final installation depends on the vehicle's mounting structure, available clearance, electrical capacity and high-beam system. Additional vehicle-specific components may be required where the standard installation equipment is not directly compatible.
