The STEDI Type-X™ EVO 8.5" Spot LED Driving Light is a dedicated long-range driving light engineered for strong forward projection across open roads, highways and remote tracks. Unlike a combination-beam lamp, the EVO Spot uses all 44 CREE LEDs with focused 5.8-degree pencil-beam optics to concentrate its output deep into the distance.
This product is priced and supplied as one individual spot driving light, allowing you to purchase a single replacement lamp or build a customised lighting arrangement using spot and flood versions of the Type-X™ EVO.
Each light features a 5000K output, a compact 8.5-inch housing, an IP68-rated construction and a gusseted cast-aluminium mounting bracket designed for secure installation on suitable bull bars and mounting structures.
The Type-X™ EVO range separates its flood and spot performance into dedicated lamp configurations. This EVO Spot model directs the output of all 44 LEDs through narrow 5.8-degree pencil-beam optics, prioritising distance and central intensity rather than broad lateral spread.
This concentrated beam pattern is particularly suited to long, straight roads and open-country driving where identifying hazards well ahead of the vehicle is the primary requirement.
When two Type-X™ EVO Spot lights are installed as a pair, the manufacturer specifies up to 1,470 metres of light throw and 27,600 tested lumens. This product contains one of those spot-beam lights, not a complete pair.
Because the EVO range is available in separate spot and flood patterns, individual lights can be selected to suit the intended driving environment.
Selling the lights individually also allows a damaged unit to be replaced without purchasing another complete pair.
Each Type-X™ EVO contains 44 LEDs from CREE's XP range. In the spot version, all 44 LEDs contribute to the focused pencil-beam pattern.
The light draws 150W and approximately 12.5A at 13.2V. Compatibility with both 12V and 24V systems makes it suitable for a variety of 4WD, touring and commercial vehicle applications.
The EVO produces a 5000K white light. This output provides clear illumination of the road, track and surrounding terrain without using an excessively cool colour temperature.
The housing has been designed to provide high output from a relatively compact package. Its carefully shaped silhouette minimises overall height compared with larger conventional driving-light housings, helping the EVO fit applications where mounting space is restricted.
The angular housing, metallic bezel and sculpted three-dimensional lens are designed to complement the lines and surfaces found on modern vehicles.
The Type-X™ EVO uses a three-dimensional primary lens together with a multi-bezel housing design. A concealed structural seal sits beneath the outer bezel, creating a layered assembly that supports the light's IP68 ingress-protection rating.
The housing also incorporates an updated heat-dissipation system to transfer operating heat away from the LEDs.
Each light is supported by a gusseted cast-aluminium bracket with a stable three-bolt mounting arrangement. Slotted mounting holes provide adjustment during installation and allow a minimum of approximately 18mm clearance from the vehicle grille.
The bracket is intended to maintain stable light alignment during use on rough roads and corrugated tracks when installed on a suitable supporting structure.
The outer colour fascia can be changed without using an Allen key or dismantling the light. Grey and orange fascia options are supplied, allowing the appearance of the light to be adjusted to suit the vehicle.
Additional fascia colours and alternative protective covers may be available separately.
Important: The listed price is for one individual spot driving light, not a pair. A high-beam wiring harness is not included with the single light and must be selected separately where required. Confirm the available mounting space, supporting structure, electrical capacity and vehicle-specific high-beam connection before installation.
