The AAV4x4 Isuzu Trailer & Auxiliary Power Upgrade converts the vehicle from a standard 7-pin trailer connection to a more versatile 12-pin flat trailer socket, while also adding a dedicated 12V 50A Anderson-style auxiliary power connection and a dual 120Ah AGM battery system.
Designed for Isuzu touring, towing, caravan and expedition builds, the package provides additional trailer electrical circuits together with a dedicated 12V auxiliary battery supply charged from the vehicle's 24V electrical system.
The system includes 2 x 12V 120Ah AGM deep-cycle batteries, a vehicle-specific Isuzu battery tray, a 24V-to-12V 30A DC-DC charger with Bluetooth connectivity, 12-pin trailer socket and the required fuse protection and connection hardware.
The standard trailer connection is upgraded to a 12-pin flat socket, providing additional electrical circuits beyond those available through a basic 7-pin connection.
The first seven connections continue to provide the conventional trailer functions, while the additional pins can be configured for compatible auxiliary trailer requirements.
A standard Australian-style 7-pin flat trailer plug can still connect to the 12-pin flat socket, allowing the vehicle to continue towing conventional 7-pin trailers without requiring a second trailer socket.
One of the major advantages of upgrading to a 12-pin connection is the ability to provide additional electrical circuits for caravans, campers and specialised trailers.
The final configuration of the additional circuits depends on what the trailer requires. Before the system is completed, AAV4x4 needs confirmation of the intended functions for pins 8, 9, 11 and 12.
For each required auxiliary circuit, the following information should be provided:
This allows the trailer connection to be configured appropriately for the actual caravan, camper or trailer rather than applying a generic wiring arrangement that may not suit the equipment being connected.
The package also provides a dedicated 12V 50A Anderson-style auxiliary power connection.
This provides a robust high-current connection separate from the normal trailer-lighting circuits and is useful for compatible caravan, camper and auxiliary electrical systems.
A protective black cover is incorporated to help keep the connection protected when it is not in use.
The auxiliary power system includes two 12V 120Ah AGM deep-cycle batteries.
AGM battery construction is well suited to vehicle auxiliary-power applications because the batteries are sealed, maintenance-free and designed to tolerate the vibration and repeated charge/discharge operation associated with touring vehicles.
The auxiliary batteries provide a dedicated 12V energy reserve for the configured towing and auxiliary electrical system rather than attempting to operate all 12V loads directly from the Isuzu's 24V starting system.
The two AGM batteries are supported by an AAV4x4 3-position battery tray system designed for the Isuzu application.
Although the tray has provision for up to three compatible batteries, this package uses two positions for the supplied 120Ah AGM batteries.
The system includes the tray base together with the required Isuzu-specific mounting brackets, providing a dedicated chassis-mounted battery installation rather than a universal battery box arrangement.
The Isuzu uses a 24V vehicle electrical system, while the supplied auxiliary batteries and Anderson connection operate at 12V.
To correctly manage charging between the two voltage systems, the package incorporates a 24V-to-12V 30A DC-DC battery charger.
The charger takes power from the vehicle's 24V system and provides controlled charging to the 12V auxiliary battery system while the vehicle is operating.
The DC-DC charger in this package is rated at 30A. The 50A figure in the product title refers to the Anderson-style auxiliary connection, not the DC-DC charger's charging output.
The DC-DC charger incorporates Bluetooth connectivity, allowing compatible mobile-device access for system configuration and charger monitoring.
This provides a convenient way to check charger operation and relevant charging information without requiring an additional permanently mounted display.
High-current auxiliary electrical systems require appropriate circuit protection.
This package includes a 60A automotive fuse and inline MIDI fuse holder as part of the protected electrical installation.
Fuse protection is incorporated into the applicable high-current circuit to help protect the wiring and connected equipment in the event of an electrical fault.
The combination of a 12-pin trailer socket, dedicated 12V auxiliary connection, AGM battery storage and 24V-to-12V charging makes this package particularly useful for Isuzu vehicles towing equipment with more demanding electrical requirements.
Typical applications include:
| Vehicle Application | Isuzu |
|---|---|
| Trailer Socket | 12-pin flat plastic socket |
| 7-Pin Flat Plug Compatibility | Yes |
| Auxiliary Connection | 12V 50A Anderson-style connection |
| Battery Type | AGM deep cycle |

The final wiring configuration of the additional 12-pin trailer circuits depends on the trailer or caravan being connected.
Before final configuration, provide the required function, amperage and ignition-switched or constant-power requirement for pins 8, 9, 11 and 12.
Additional wiring, relays, protection or electrical components may be required depending on the requested auxiliary circuits, and the final package price may change accordingly.
The supplied DC-DC charger is a 24V-to-12V 30A charger. The 50A rating refers to the Anderson-style auxiliary connection.
