This heavy-duty fitted package combines an AAV4x4 4500kg-rated towbar, custom rear winch cradle and Saber HDX 24V 20,000lb electric recovery winch for compatible Isuzu NPS 2008+ vehicles.
The rear-mounted winch provides a dedicated recovery option when the Isuzu needs to be pulled backwards or when a forward recovery is not practical. Its 20,000lb pulling capacity, heavy-duty HDX construction and 25m synthetic rope make it suitable for large expedition vehicles, commercial trucks and demanding off-road recovery situations.
The towing package also includes a heavy-duty drop ball mount with a 70mm towball, a 7-pin flat trailer socket and a 24V-to-12V trailer-light interface for compatible Australian trailer lighting.
The towbar, rear winch cradle, winch, high-current electrical system and trailer wiring are professionally installed, securely connected and operationally tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.
The Saber HDX winch is installed in a custom AAV4x4 cradle integrated with the rear towbar assembly. This provides the Isuzu with a permanent rearward recovery system without relying on a portable winch arrangement.
A rear-mounted winch can be particularly valuable when:
The recovery load, terrain, vehicle position and available recovery points must be assessed before every winching operation.
The Saber HDX winch has a published pulling capacity of 20,000lb, equivalent to approximately 9072kg under the manufacturer’s rated conditions.
This capacity is intended for demanding recovery applications involving full-size touring vehicles, expedition trucks and commercial rigs.
Available pulling force reduces as additional layers of rope build on the drum. Correct recovery techniques and appropriately rated recovery equipment must always be selected for the vehicle and conditions.
This package uses the dedicated 24V version of the Saber HDX winch, allowing it to operate from the compatible 24V electrical system in the Isuzu NPS.
The winch is connected through heavy-gauge positive and negative battery cabling, high-current distribution components and 500A circuit protection.
The Saber HDX is engineered for demanding truck and commercial-vehicle recovery work. Its reinforced construction, rugged housing, corrosion-resistant exterior components and sealed internal systems are designed for exposure to harsh working and off-road environments.
The winch is securely mounted within the custom cradle so recovery loads are transferred into the compatible towbar structure rather than through the vehicle body or motorhome module.
An automatic load-holding brake helps control the drum when winching stops and reduces the risk of the rope paying out unintentionally under load.
The braking system does not replace correct vehicle restraint, wheel chocks or other controls required during a recovery.
Integrated thermal overload protection helps protect the winch during high-load or extended operation.
Winching should be paused if the system becomes excessively hot. Recovery should only continue after the winch has cooled and the cause of the excessive load has been assessed.
The winch incorporates weather-sealed controls together with a sealed solenoid and control system. These components help protect the high-current switching equipment from dust, water and contamination during normal vehicle use.
The winch and electrical connections should still be inspected and cleaned after exposure to mud, salt water, deep water crossings or other contaminants.
The winch is fitted with 25m of 12mm synthetic rope. Synthetic rope is considerably lighter and easier to handle than a comparable steel cable and does not develop sharp broken wire strands.
The rope must be inspected before every recovery for:
A suitable winch-line damper and correctly rated recovery equipment should always be used.
The fitted winch system includes heavy-gauge 0 B&S positive and negative cabling, high-current distribution components, a 500A fuse and matching fuse holder.
The electrical cables are securely routed and protected against:
The completed installation is checked for correct polarity, secure termination and reliable winch operation.
The package includes an AAV4x4 heavy-duty towbar designed for compatible Isuzu NPS 2008+ vehicles.
The towbar can support a towing capacity of up to 4500kg when used with the supplied 70mm towball and when the vehicle, coupling, trailer and compliance requirements permit that capacity.
The actual legal towing capacity is always determined by the lowest applicable rating or limit within the complete towing combination, including the vehicle, towbar, receiver, ball mount, towball, trailer coupling, trailer, axle loads, GVM and GCM.
A heavy-duty ball mount with an approximately 150mm drop and a compatible 70mm towball is included for trailers using a suitably rated 70mm ball coupling.
The lowered ball position assists with matching the coupling height of compatible trailers to the elevated chassis height of the Isuzu NPS.
The loaded trailer should sit as level as practical when connected for travel. Final suitability depends on the individual trailer coupling height and vehicle configuration.
The Isuzu NPS uses a 24V vehicle electrical system, while many Australian trailers operate with 12V road lighting.
The fitted trailer-light interface receives the Isuzu’s lighting signals and provides compatible 12V outputs to the trailer socket. This allows suitable 12V trailer lamps to operate without being connected directly to the vehicle’s 24V lighting circuits.
The interface also separates the additional trailer-lighting load from the vehicle’s original electronically controlled lamp wiring.
An Australian-style 7-pin flat socket provides the connection point for a compatible trailer plug.
The trailer-light interface and socket are wired and tested for the applicable trailer road-lighting functions following installation.
This Isuzu NPS towing and rear-recovery package is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:
Final component positions and cable routes depend on the individual vehicle, rear body configuration, electrical system and existing accessories.

The winch is intended for vehicle-recovery pulling only. It must not be used for lifting or suspending people, vehicles or other loads.
The 20,000lb figure is the winch’s maximum rated pulling capacity. It is not the towbar rating and does not increase the Isuzu’s permitted towing capacity.
The published 4500kg towbar rating requires a compatible 70mm towing connection and remains subject to the approved limits of the vehicle and complete towing combination.
Vehicles registered above 4495kg GVM may require additional vehicle compliance for the towbar installation. This should be confirmed before ordering.
The 7-pin socket provides compatible 12V trailer-light outputs through the fitted interface. Electric-brake controllers, auxiliary charging circuits, trailer stability systems and other specialised trailer functions may require additional equipment.
The winch rope, recovery termination, cradle, towbar, receiver, ball mount, towball, electrical cables and circuit protection must be inspected before every towing or recovery operation.
Safe winching procedures, appropriately rated recovery equipment and a suitable recovery plan must be used at all times.
