This heavy-duty fitted package combines a 4500kg-rated towbar with a custom rear winch cradle and a Carbon Scout Pro 24V 20,000lb extreme-duty truck winch for compatible Isuzu NPS 2008+ vehicles.
The rear-mounted winch provides a powerful recovery option when the vehicle must be pulled backwards or when forward recovery is not practical. Its 9072kg rated single-line pull, 7HP series-wound motor, three-stage planetary gearbox and 25m synthetic rope make it well suited to large off-road trucks, expedition vehicles and demanding recovery conditions.
The towing system also includes a solid forged drop ball mount with a 70mm towball, a 7-pin flat trailer socket and a 24V-to-12V trailer-light interface for operating compatible 12V trailer road lights from the Isuzu’s 24V electrical system.
The towbar, rear winch cradle, winch, high-current electrical system and trailer wiring are professionally installed, connected and operationally tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.
The winch is installed within a custom AAV4x4 cradle integrated with the rear towbar structure. This provides the Isuzu with a dedicated rearward recovery system without relying on a portable winch arrangement.
A rear-mounted winch is particularly useful when:
The vehicle, terrain, recovery points and required pulling force must be assessed before every recovery.
The Carbon Scout Pro has a rated single-line pull of 20,000lb, equivalent to approximately 9072kg under the manufacturer’s test conditions.
Available pulling capacity reduces as additional layers of rope build on the drum. The first rope layer provides the highest available pulling force, so suitable recovery techniques and correctly rated equipment must be selected for the conditions.
The winch rating is separate from the towbar rating and does not increase the vehicle’s permitted towing capacity.
This package uses the dedicated 24V version of the Scout Pro winch, allowing it to operate from the Isuzu’s compatible 24V electrical system.
The 7HP series-wound motor is designed to provide strong low-speed torque for heavy vehicle recovery. The 24V system also draws less current than the equivalent 12V winch at comparable loads.
| Line Pull | Line Speed | Motor Current |
|---|---|---|
| No load | 7.8m/min | 40A |
| 3630kg | 2.6m/min | 125A |
| 7257kg | 1.4m/min | 200A |
| 9072kg | 1.0m/min | 280A |
Actual performance depends on battery condition, electrical resistance, cable length, rope layers, recovery load and operating temperature.
The three-stage planetary gearbox uses a 354:1 reduction ratio to convert the motor’s speed into controlled pulling force.
A rotating ring-gear clutch allows the drum to be disengaged for manual rope payout before the recovery begins.
The automatic brake is positioned within the motor frame and applies braking force when winch operation stops.
This arrangement helps control the drum under load while keeping braking heat away from the centre of the rope drum.
The brake does not replace correct vehicle restraint, wheel chocks or other controls required during a recovery.
The winch is supplied with 25m of 13mm synthetic rope. Synthetic rope is lighter and easier to handle than a comparable steel cable and does not develop sharp broken wire strands.
The rope must be inspected before each recovery for:
A suitable winch-line damper and correctly rated recovery equipment should always be used.
The synthetic rope passes through a MEGAPRO multi-position hawse fairlead CNC-machined from billet aluminium and finished with a Type III hard-anodised surface.
Its smoothly radiused opening supports the rope as it moves across the fairlead during straight and angled pulls.
The winch provides two control options:
The wired controller provides a direct physical connection, while the wireless remote allows the operator to select a suitable observation position within its effective range.
The operator must maintain a clear view of the vehicle, winch rope, recovery point and surrounding area whenever the winch is operating.
A sealed 600A solenoid switches the high-current power supplied to the winch motor. The control system is securely mounted and protected as part of the completed installation.
The winch carries an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water ingress within the limits of the rating when correctly installed and maintained.
The winch should still be inspected, cleaned and dried after exposure to water, mud, salt or other contaminants.
The fitted winch system includes heavy-gauge 0 B&S positive and negative cabling, high-current distribution components and 500A circuit protection.
The electrical cabling is securely terminated and protected against:
The completed electrical system is checked for correct polarity, secure connections and proper winch operation.
The package includes a heavy-duty towbar rated to a maximum of 4500kg when used within the approved limits of the complete vehicle and trailer combination.
The actual permitted towing capacity is determined by the lowest applicable rating or legal limit, including the vehicle, chassis, towbar, receiver, ball mount, towball, coupling, trailer, axle loads, GVM and GCM.
A solid forged ball mount and compatible 70mm towball are included for use with suitably rated heavy-duty trailer couplings.
The reversible ball mount provides approximately:
The loaded trailer should sit as level as practical when connected for travel. The receiver, ball mount, towball and trailer coupling must all be appropriately rated.
The Isuzu uses a 24V vehicle electrical system, while many Australian trailers use 12V road lighting.
The fitted trailer-light interface receives the Isuzu’s lighting signals and provides compatible 12V outputs to the trailer socket. This allows suitable 12V trailer lamps to operate without being connected directly to the vehicle’s 24V lighting circuits.
The interface also helps separate the trailer-lighting load from the original electronically controlled vehicle lamp wiring.
An Australian-style 7-pin flat socket provides the electrical connection for a compatible trailer plug.
The socket and trailer-light interface are wired and tested for the applicable road-lighting functions following installation.
This Isuzu NPS towing and rear-recovery package is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:
Final component positions and cable routes depend on the individual vehicle, rear body configuration, electrical system and existing accessories.

The winch is intended for vehicle-recovery pulling only. It must not be used for lifting or suspending people, vehicles or other loads.
The 20,000lb figure is the winch’s maximum rated single-line pull under the manufacturer’s test conditions. It is not the towbar rating and does not increase the Isuzu’s permitted towing capacity.
The published 4500kg towbar rating remains subject to the approved limits of the vehicle and complete towing combination. The lowest-rated component or legal limit must always be observed.
Depending on the vehicle’s registered GVM and applicable requirements, additional vehicle compliance may be required. This should be confirmed before ordering.
The 7-pin socket supplies compatible 12V trailer-lighting outputs through the fitted interface. Specialised trailer systems, auxiliary charging circuits, electric-brake controllers and other functions may require additional equipment.
The winch rope, fairlead, recovery termination, cradle, towbar, receiver, ball mount, towball, electrical cables and circuit protection must be inspected before every towing or recovery operation.
Safe winching procedures, appropriately rated recovery equipment and a suitable recovery plan must be used at all times.
