Isuzu NPS 2008+ Saber HDX 20,000lb 24V Winch with 25m Synthetic Rope – Fitted

The AAV4x4 Isuzu NPS 20,000lb Winch Package provides a heavy-duty recovery solution for compatible Isuzu NPS 4x4 models from 2008 onwards.

At the centre of the package is the Saber HDX 20,000lb 24V electric winch, giving the NPS approximately 9,072kg of rated single-line pulling capacity. The winch is supplied with 25 metres of 12mm synthetic winch rope and is professionally installed with dedicated heavy-current cabling, 500A circuit protection and distribution hardware.

The 24V configuration is particularly well suited to the Isuzu NPS electrical system and avoids the need to operate a high-current recovery winch from a separate 12V supply.

20,000lb Heavy-Duty Recovery Capacity

With a rated pulling capacity of 20,000lb, the HDX is designed for demanding recovery work involving larger 4WDs, commercial vehicles and heavily equipped touring rigs.

An expedition-configured Isuzu NPS can carry significant additional mass through its body, fuel, water, batteries, recovery equipment and touring gear. A high-capacity winch provides a recovery system better suited to the scale of these vehicles than smaller passenger-4WD winches.

24V Configuration for the Isuzu NPS

This package uses the 24V version of the HDX 20,000lb winch.

The 24V configuration allows the high-current winch system to integrate with the Isuzu NPS vehicle electrical system while still delivering the substantial power required during heavy recovery operations.

25m x 12mm Synthetic Winch Rope

The winch supplied in this AAV4x4 package is loaded with 25 metres of 12mm synthetic winch rope.

Synthetic rope provides a lightweight alternative to traditional steel winch cable and is well suited to modern off-road recovery systems.

Correct inspection, spooling and protection from abrasion remain important throughout the service life of any synthetic recovery rope.

Automatic Load-Holding Brake

The HDX incorporates an automatic load-holding brake to help control the winch drum while operating under load.

This provides greater control during vehicle recovery and helps prevent unwanted rollback when the winch is holding a load.

Thermal Overload Protection

Heavy winching can generate substantial heat through the motor and electrical system.

Integrated thermal overload protection provides additional protection when winch operating temperatures become excessive. Recovery operators should still monitor winch temperature and allow suitable cooling time during prolonged or high-load use.

Weather-Sealed Controls

Recovery equipment can be exposed to dust, mud, water and harsh off-road conditions, so the HDX incorporates weather-sealed controls and a sealed solenoid arrangement.

The rugged housing and protected electrical components are designed around demanding recovery environments where reliability is critical.

Heavy-Duty HDX Construction

The HDX is built using reinforced components and a rugged housing designed for high-load recovery applications.

Corrosion-resistant finishes, sealed components and heavy-duty internal construction make the winch particularly appropriate for touring, expedition and commercial vehicles that regularly operate away from sealed roads.

Heavy-Current Electrical Installation

A 20,000lb electric winch can draw substantial current under load, making the quality of the electrical installation just as important as the winch itself.

The AAV4x4 fitted package incorporates dedicated 0 B&S positive and negative battery cabling to provide a heavy-current electrical path between the vehicle's electrical system and the winch.

The installation includes approximately:

  • 5m of 0 B&S red positive battery cable
  • 5m of 0 B&S black negative battery cable

Final cable routing is determined by the actual winch position and vehicle configuration.

500A MEGA Fuse Protection

The high-current winch circuit incorporates a 500A MEGA automotive fuse and dedicated heavy-duty fuse holder.

This provides circuit protection for the high-current cabling and forms part of the professionally integrated electrical installation.

High-Current Distribution Hardware

A dedicated 10mm distribution stud is incorporated into the installation to provide a secure termination point for the heavy-current electrical connections.

Using purpose-designed high-current connection hardware provides a cleaner and more serviceable installation than improvised cable junctions.

Compact Package for its Capacity

Despite its substantial pulling capacity, the HDX 20,000lb winch has relatively compact overall dimensions:

  • Length: approximately 605mm
  • Width: approximately 192mm
  • Height: approximately 203mm
  • Winch weight: approximately 40kg

Designed for Serious NPS Builds

This fitted 20,000lb winch package is particularly suited to NPS vehicles that operate in locations where self-recovery capability is an important part of the overall build.

Typical applications include:

  • Isuzu NPS expedition trucks
  • Truck-based motorhomes
  • Remote-area touring vehicles
  • Commercial and service trucks
  • Rural and agricultural vehicles
  • Off-road support vehicles
  • Heavy touring vehicles requiring substantial self-recovery capability

Important Notes

The winch currently supplied in this package uses 25m x 12mm synthetic rope. Older references to a 21m synthetic cable do not reflect the current AAV4x4 assembly specification.

This package includes the winch and its fitted high-current electrical installation. The vehicle must have a compatible winch mounting system or winch-ready bull bar/cradle suitable for the 20,000lb winch.

Always use correctly rated recovery points and recovery equipment appropriate to the vehicle and recovery situation. Keep people clear of the loaded winch rope and recovery area during operation.
