The Bushman 190L Upright Fridge & Freezer is a large-capacity 12/24V DC refrigeration solution designed for caravans, motorhomes, expedition vehicles and off-grid installations where dependable refrigeration and efficient power use are important.

With a total capacity of 190 litres, the two-door design separates a generous 145L refrigerator from a dedicated 45L freezer, providing substantially more frozen storage than a small internal freezer compartment.

This product is supplied in a black finish and supplied unfitted. A mounting kit is included, however vehicle installation, cabinetry modification, electrical wiring and connection are not included.

145L Fridge & 45L Freezer

The 190L capacity is divided into two separate compartments, providing 145 litres of refrigerated storage and a substantial 45 litre freezer.

This configuration is particularly useful for extended touring and remote-area travel where additional frozen food storage can reduce the frequency of resupply stops.

12V / 24V DC Refrigeration

Designed around DC operation, the fridge can operate from compatible 12V or 24V electrical systems, making it well suited to battery-based touring and motorhome installations.

The refrigeration system uses a Nidec Danfoss BD50 compressor together with a large cooling system and substantial cabinet insulation to provide efficient operation in mobile applications.

Low Power Consumption

Efficient power consumption is particularly important in an expedition vehicle where refrigeration may operate continuously from the house battery system.

Under typical test conditions, the fridge averages approximately 2.0Ah per hour over a 24-hour period at 25°C ambient temperature with the refrigerator set to approximately 4°C.

Maximum current draw is approximately 4.5A on a 12V supply. Actual consumption will vary with ambient temperature, ventilation, thermostat setting, door opening frequency and the temperature of food or drinks placed inside.

Heavy Insulation for Touring Conditions

The refrigerator incorporates substantial insulation to reduce heat transfer into the refrigerated compartments:

  • Freezer insulation: approximately 80mm
  • Fridge insulation: approximately 50mm

This insulation works together with the compressor refrigeration system to reduce unnecessary compressor cycling and help maintain stable internal temperatures.

Designed for Hot Australian Conditions

The refrigeration system is designed for mobile and off-grid operation in demanding climates and carries a tropical climate rating.

Correct cabinet ventilation remains important. Adequate airflow around the refrigeration system must be provided when incorporating the fridge into motorhome, caravan or expedition-vehicle cabinetry.

Practical Upright Design

Unlike a chest-style fridge, the upright configuration provides straightforward access to refrigerated food and drinks without requiring a slide or lifting baskets from the top of the unit.

Large door storage and adjustable internal shelving allow the available space to be configured around different food, drink and container sizes.

Mobile-Use Door Latch

A dedicated door-latching arrangement helps keep the refrigerator and freezer doors secured while travelling.

This is particularly important in motorhomes and off-road vehicles where vibration, corrugations, steep tracks and vehicle movement can place considerably greater loads on fridge doors than a stationary household installation.

Reversible Doors

The door configuration can be reversed to better suit the surrounding cabinetry and vehicle interior layout.

This provides additional flexibility when positioning the refrigerator within a motorhome, caravan, expedition module or other custom installation.
