AAV 24V Twin Motor On-Board Air Compressor Kit – Unfitted

The AAV 24V Twin Motor On-Board Air Compressor is a high-output compressed-air solution designed specifically for permanent installation in 24-volt trucks, expedition vehicles, motorhomes and heavy-duty work vehicles.

Using a twin-motor, twin-cylinder design, the compressor delivers substantially greater airflow than a conventional single-motor unit, making it particularly well suited to inflating large 4x4 and truck tyres after airing down, as well as supplying pneumatic accessories and general on-board compressed air.

The compressor is supplied as a complete 24V on-board installation kit with wiring loom, relays, pressure control, electrical protection and mounting hardware. This product is supplied unfitted and does not include installation labour.

High-Output Twin Motor Design

Two compressor motors operate together to provide the high airflow required for demanding vehicle applications.

Maximum free-air delivery is approximately 174.4 litres per minute, while airflow remains approximately 131.8 litres per minute at 200kPa.

This high-volume output is particularly valuable when inflating larger tyres. Expedition trucks and heavily modified 4x4 vehicles often run considerably greater tyre volume than a conventional passenger vehicle, meaning a small portable compressor can require a substantial amount of time to return tyres to normal road pressure after off-road driving.

The twin compressor is designed to move a much greater volume of air and reduce inflation time accordingly.

Designed for 24V Trucks

This compressor is specifically configured for a 24-volt DC electrical supply, making it suitable for trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles that use 24V electrical systems.

It is particularly relevant to vehicles such as expedition trucks and motorhomes where a high-capacity permanent air source is more practical than carrying and connecting a small portable compressor every time air is required.

This is a 24V compressor and should not be connected directly to a 12V electrical system.

100% Duty Cycle

The compressor is designed for a 100% duty cycle, making it well suited to demanding inflation tasks where extended compressor operation may be required.

This is especially useful when reinflating multiple large tyres after travelling on sand, corrugations or other terrain where tyre pressures have been deliberately reduced.

Fast Inflation for Large Tyres

Large off-road tyres contain considerably more air than standard passenger-vehicle tyres. This becomes particularly noticeable when tyre pressures are regularly reduced for sand, corrugated roads or low-speed off-road travel.

The high-volume twin compressor configuration is designed to significantly reduce the amount of time spent reinflating tyres before returning to sealed roads.

This makes it particularly suitable for:

  • Fuso and Isuzu 4x4 trucks
  • Expedition vehicles
  • Truck-based motorhomes
  • Super Single tyre conversions
  • Large off-road tyre packages
  • Remote-area touring vehicles
  • Commercial and service trucks
  • Vehicles that frequently transition between road and off-road tyre pressures

Automatic Pressure Control

An integrated pressure differential switch allows the compressor to operate automatically when incorporated into a correctly configured on-board air system.

Rather than requiring the compressor to run continuously, the pressure switch can cycle the compressor according to system pressure, making it suitable for permanently plumbed installations and compatible pneumatic accessories.

Suitable for an Auxiliary Air Tank

The compressor can be connected to a suitable auxiliary compressed-air tank where stored air is required.

An air tank can be useful for applications that require an immediate reserve of compressed air and is recommended when operating many pneumatic air tools.

An auxiliary air tank is not required simply to use the compressor for tyre inflation, but may considerably expand the capability of a complete on-board air system.

Pneumatic Accessory Capability

In addition to tyre inflation, the compressor can form the basis of a complete vehicle compressed-air system for compatible accessories such as:

  • Pneumatic differential lockers
  • Air horns
  • Tyre inflation outlets
  • Air blow guns
  • Compatible pneumatic tools when used with an appropriate air tank
  • General workshop and vehicle compressed-air requirements

Additional tanks, manifolds, regulators, hoses, fittings or control equipment may be required depending on the intended application.

Thermal Protection

Extended compressor operation generates significant heat, particularly during high-pressure tyre inflation.

The twin motors incorporate internal thermal protection designed to protect the compressor against excessive operating temperature.

Forced-air cooling assists with managing heat around the motors, cylinder heads and associated electrical components during operation.

Heavy-Duty Internal Construction

The compressor uses hard-anodised cylinder bores to reduce friction and provide a durable operating surface for the compressor pistons.

Low-friction piston seals are designed for long service life under repeated compressor cycling, while the overall assembly uses lightweight, high-strength engineering materials to provide a strong unit without unnecessary mass.

Heat-Dissipating Mounting System

The supplied mounting bracket provides a secure base for permanent vehicle installation while also assisting with heat dissipation from the compressor assembly.

A permanent mounting arrangement eliminates the need to unpack and reconnect a portable compressor whenever tyre pressures need to be adjusted.

Designed for Harsh Vehicle Environments

The compressor is designed for permanent vehicle use and incorporates protection against the dust, moisture, vibration, heat and shock commonly encountered in touring and off-road applications.

A suitable installation location should still be selected to minimise direct exposure to water, mud, exhaust heat and road debris and to provide adequate ventilation around the compressor.

Electrical Protection

The high-output twin-motor design requires substantially more electrical power than a small portable compressor.

The kit therefore incorporates dedicated relays and heavy-duty circuit protection for the compressor motors as part of the supplied wiring system.

Correct cable sizing, fuse protection, terminations and earth connections are essential for reliable compressor performance.

Over-Pressure Protection

An over-pressure safety valve is incorporated into the compressor system as an additional protection against excessive pressure.

The compressor should always be used with hoses, fittings, tanks and accessories that are appropriately pressure rated for the completed system.

Complete On-Board Installation Kit

The compressor is supplied as an on-board kit rather than a bare replacement compressor.

The package includes the major components required to integrate the compressor into a suitable 24V vehicle installation.

Important Note

This product is supplied unfitted. Installation labour is not included.

The compressor is designed for 24V DC electrical systems. Confirm the vehicle electrical-system voltage before installation.

Because this is a high-output twin-motor compressor, correct electrical cable sizing, circuit protection, relay installation and earth connections are critical. The compressor should be securely mounted in a ventilated location with adequate clearance from excessive heat, moving components and direct exposure to road debris.

Air tanks, inflation hoses, tyre inflators, pneumatic tools, air horns, differential-locker components and other accessories are not included unless specifically stated.

Where an auxiliary air tank is added, all tanks, pressure lines, fittings and associated components must be appropriately pressure rated and installed for the completed system.
