The Gen-Y 7.5" Drop 7000kg Hitch with 50mm and 70mm Versa-Ball is a heavy-duty adjustable towing solution designed for vehicles that regularly tow trailers with different coupling heights and ball sizes. Supplied with Gen-Y’s dual-size Versa-Ball, it allows operators to change between compatible 50mm and 70mm trailer couplings without carrying separate ball mounts.
Rated for towing loads up to 7,000kg with a maximum 900kg tongue weight, the 7.5" drop hitch body provides four adjustable positions. This allows the coupling height to be matched more closely to the trailer drawbar, helping maintain a level towing position for improved stability, braking behaviour and load distribution.
The supplied Gen-Y Versa-Ball incorporates both a 50mm tow ball and a 70mm tow ball within one heavy-duty attachment. To change ball sizes, the Versa-Ball is removed, rotated to place the required ball in the towing position and then secured back into the hitch body.
This arrangement is particularly useful for owners, farms, workshops and commercial operators who tow multiple trailers fitted with different coupling sizes. It reduces the need to carry and install separate ball mounts for each trailer.
The 7.5" drop hitch body provides four selectable coupling-height positions. Adjustment is completed by removing the retaining pin, moving the Versa-Ball attachment to the required position and reinstalling the pin.
Correct trailer levelling helps support predictable handling, effective braking and balanced loading across the tow vehicle and trailer. The adjustable design also reduces the need for multiple fixed-height hitches when towing trailers with different drawbar heights.
The hitch is designed and tested for use in either a drop or rise orientation, providing additional flexibility for vehicles with receivers positioned above or below the required trailer coupling height.
When selecting the installation orientation and attachment position, ensure there is adequate clearance between the hitch, vehicle body, trailer drawbar and surrounding components throughout the full range of vehicle and trailer movement.
The Gen-Y Mega Duty Hitch is fabricated from heavy-duty steel for regular use in demanding recreational, agricultural and commercial towing environments. Its robust mechanical design provides straightforward adjustment without complicated mechanisms.
The interchangeable platform can also accept other compatible Gen-Y attachments, allowing the hitch to be adapted should towing requirements change.
Inspect the hitch, Versa-Ball, retaining pins and receiver connection regularly for wear, damage or excessive movement. Keep the adjustment points clean and ensure all pins and retaining clips are correctly installed before towing. Replace any worn or damaged component before use.
Important: Always confirm that the tow vehicle, receiver, selected tow ball, trailer coupling and all other towing components are correctly rated for the intended load. The permitted towing capacity of the complete combination is determined by its lowest-rated component.
