The Gen-Y 7.5" Drop 4500kg Torsion-Flex Hitch with Australian Tongue combines heavy-duty towing capacity, adjustable coupling height and Gen-Y’s patented Torsion-Flex technology in one versatile towing system. Supplied with a genuine Australian Tongue for DO45 couplings, it is designed for off-road caravans, camper trailers and other demanding Australian towing applications.
Rated for up to 4,500kg towing capacity and a maximum 500kg tongue weight, the 7.5" drop provides five adjustable positions to help achieve the correct trailer height. The internal rubber torsion system absorbs much of the shock normally transferred through a rigid hitch, helping deliver a smoother and more controlled towing experience.
A conventional rigid hitch transfers bumps, potholes and abrupt trailer movement directly between the trailer and tow vehicle. The Gen-Y Torsion-Flex Hitch uses heavy-duty rubber torsion cords inside the hitch body to absorb and dampen much of this impact before it travels through the towing combination.
This allows the tow vehicle and trailer to respond more independently over changing road surfaces, helping improve towing comfort, stability and control.
The supplied Australian Tongue is designed for use with compatible Cruisemaster DO45 articulating couplings. It provides a purpose-built connection for Australian off-road trailers while retaining the height adjustment and interchangeable design of the Gen-Y hitch system.
The articulating coupling remains attached to the trailer, with the Australian Tongue providing the compatible vehicle-side mounting point required to connect the trailer to the hitch.
The 7.5" drop hitch body provides five coupling-height positions, giving greater adjustment than the shorter 5" model. This makes it easier to match trailers with different drawbar heights and maintain a level towing position.
Correct trailer levelling can improve stability, braking behaviour and load distribution while reducing unnecessary strain on the trailer and tow vehicle.
A mechanical tongue weight scale is incorporated into the hitch body, providing a convenient visual guide when setting up the trailer load. Correct tongue weight is an important part of maintaining balanced, predictable towing behaviour.
The hitch is fabricated from heavy-duty steel with precision-machined components and two 1" Grade 8 pivot bolts. It is built for regular use in demanding recreational, agricultural and commercial towing environments.
The enclosed rubber torsion system contains no airbags to inflate and no conventional bearings requiring routine adjustment.
Inspect the hitch, Australian Tongue, pivot bolts and retaining pins regularly for damage, excessive movement or wear. Keep the mounting points clean and replace any damaged component before towing.
Important: Always confirm that the tow vehicle, receiver, Australian Tongue, trailer coupling and all other towing components are appropriately rated for the intended load. The safe capacity of the complete towing combination is determined by its lowest-rated component.
