The Gen-Y 5" Drop 4500kg Torsion-Flex Hitch with 50mm Tow Ball combines Gen-Y's patented Torsion-Flex suspension technology with a heavy-duty 50mm tow ball to deliver exceptional towing comfort, improved vehicle control and reduced shock transfer. Designed and manufactured in the USA, this premium adjustable hitch is engineered for demanding towing applications where stability, safety and durability are paramount.

Rated to tow up to 4,500kg with a maximum 500kg tongue weight, this hitch is ideal for heavy caravans, horse floats, camper trailers, plant trailers and commercial towing. The 5" drop provides four adjustable height positions, making it easy to achieve a level trailer for improved handling and braking performance.

Patented Torsion-Flex Suspension

Traditional rigid hitches transfer every bump, pothole and road imperfection directly between the tow vehicle and trailer. The Gen-Y Torsion-Flex Hitch uses heavy-duty rubber torsion cords housed within the hitch body to absorb much of this impact energy before it reaches either vehicle.

This innovative system allows the tow vehicle and trailer to move more independently, resulting in a smoother towing experience, improved control and significantly reduced vibration being transmitted through the towing combination.

Benefits of Torsion-Flex Technology

  • Reduces shock transfer between the tow vehicle and trailer
  • Helps minimise trailer sway and bouncing
  • Improves braking stability and overall vehicle control
  • Reduces vibration transferred to cargo and trailer contents
  • Helps reduce driver fatigue during long-distance towing
  • Allows the tow vehicle and trailer suspension to work more independently
  • May help reduce tyre wear and unnecessary suspension loading

Adjustable Height

The four-position adjustable hitch body allows the tow ball height to be matched to different trailer coupling heights. Keeping the trailer level helps improve towing stability, promotes more even weight distribution and enhances braking performance.

Heavy-Duty 50mm Tow Ball

This model is supplied with a genuine 50mm tow ball, making it suitable for trailers fitted with standard Australian 50mm ball couplings. The interchangeable Gen-Y platform also allows the ball mount to be replaced with other compatible Gen-Y attachments should your towing requirements change.

Built for Heavy-Duty Towing

Manufactured from heavy-duty fabricated steel with precision-machined components and Grade 8 pivot bolts, the Gen-Y Torsion-Flex Hitch is built to withstand demanding recreational and commercial towing environments. The design is virtually maintenance free, with no airbags to maintain and no bearings requiring routine servicing.

Maintenance

The Torsion-Flex Hitch is designed to be virtually maintenance free. There are no airbags to adjust and no bearings requiring replacement. During the first few hundred kilometres of towing with an appropriate load, the rubber torsion elements naturally settle into their intended operating characteristics for optimum performance.

Important: Always ensure the tow vehicle, receiver, tow ball, trailer coupling and every component of the towing system are correctly rated for the intended load. The maximum towing capacity of the complete towing combination is determined by the lowest-rated component.
