Isuzu NPS 2008+ 4500kg Towbar with 50mm and 70mm Towballs and 7-Pin Flat Trailer Connection – Fitted

This professionally fitted towing package provides a heavy-duty towbar and complete trailer-lighting connection for compatible Isuzu NPS 2008+ vehicles.

The system includes an Isuzu-specific towbar rated up to 4500kg when used with the supplied 70mm towing arrangement and when permitted by the vehicle’s approved towing limits. The package also includes a 50mm towball, a removable approximately 150mm drop ball mount with a 70mm 4.5-tonne towball, an Australian-style 7-pin flat trailer socket and a 24V-to-12V trailer-light interface.

The towbar is designed to retain the original under-chassis spare-wheel position and can accommodate a compatible 37-inch tyre in that location, subject to the wheel, tyre and vehicle configuration.

The complete mechanical and electrical system is professionally installed and operationally tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.

Heavy-Duty Isuzu NPS Towbar

The towbar is engineered for compatible Isuzu NPS 2008+ chassis configurations and provides a strong receiver-style connection for towing caravans, equipment trailers, horse floats, camper trailers and other compatible loads.

The assembly is rated up to 4500kg when used with the supplied 70mm towing arrangement and when the vehicle, trailer and complete towing combination are legally approved for that capacity.

The towbar rating does not automatically mean every Isuzu NPS may tow 4500kg. Vehicle GVM, GCM, axle loads, registration details and applicable compliance requirements must also be considered.

50mm Towball

A 50mm towball and associated fitting components are included for trailers using a compatible 50mm ball coupling.

When towing with the 50mm towball, the published maximum trailer mass varies according to the Isuzu’s registered GVM:

Registered Vehicle GVM Maximum Trailer Mass with 50mm Towball
5000kg or less 3500kg
6000kg 3089kg
6500kg 2972kg
7000kg 2878kg
7500kg 2801kg

The applicable towing limit remains subject to the lowest-rated component or legal limit within the completed vehicle and trailer combination.

70mm 4.5-Tonne Towball

The package also includes a 70mm towball rated to 4.5 tonnes for compatible heavy-duty trailer couplings.

Using the supplied 70mm towing arrangement allows a maximum towbar capacity of 4500kg where the vehicle, trailer, coupling, GVM, GCM and compliance requirements permit that capacity.

The 50mm and 70mm towballs are not interchangeable with every trailer coupling. The correct towball must always be selected to match the connected trailer.

150mm Drop Ball Mount

The supplied solid ball mount provides an approximately 150mm, or 6-inch, drop for the 70mm towball.

This lowered towing position helps match the elevated towbar height of the Isuzu NPS to compatible caravans and trailers with a lower coupling position.

The loaded trailer should sit as level as practical when connected for travel. Final suitability depends on the vehicle ride height, trailer coupling height and load distribution.

Retains the Under-Chassis Spare Position

The towbar is designed to preserve the original spare-wheel location beneath the Isuzu chassis.

A compatible 37-inch spare tyre can be retained in this position, subject to:

  • Overall tyre diameter
  • Tyre width
  • Wheel dimensions and offset
  • Original spare-wheel carrier configuration
  • Rear body and accessory clearance
  • Individual vehicle layout

Final spare-wheel compatibility is confirmed during installation.

24V-to-12V Trailer-Light Interface

The Isuzu NPS uses a 24V vehicle electrical system, while many Australian trailers use 12V road lighting.

The fitted electronic interface receives the applicable Isuzu lighting signals and provides compatible 12V outputs for the trailer socket. This prevents standard 12V trailer lamps from being connected directly to the vehicle’s 24V lighting circuits.

The interface also helps prevent the full trailer-lighting load from being applied directly to the Isuzu’s original electronically controlled lamp wiring.

7-Pin Flat Trailer Socket

An Australian-style 7-pin flat socket provides the electrical connection for a compatible trailer plug.

Depending on the completed pin configuration and connected trailer, the socket can provide connections for applicable functions including:

  • Left indicator
  • Right indicator
  • Stop lights
  • Tail and clearance lights
  • Reverse or auxiliary circuit where configured
  • Electric-brake signal where a separate brake controller is installed
  • Earth return

The trailer plug and socket configuration should be checked before connecting a trailer.

Professional Installation

This Isuzu NPS towbar package is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:

  • Inspection of the Isuzu chassis and rear mounting area
  • Installation of the heavy-duty towbar assembly
  • Fitting the specified towbar mounting components
  • Installation of the removable towing arrangement
  • Fitting the 50mm towball components
  • Fitting the 150mm drop ball mount and 70mm towball
  • Checking clearance around the original spare-wheel position
  • Installation of the Isuzu-compatible towbar wiring loom
  • Installation of the 24V-to-12V trailer-light interface
  • Mounting and wiring the 7-pin flat trailer socket
  • Routing and securing the associated electrical wiring
  • Checking towbar mounting hardware and towing-component alignment
  • Testing the applicable 12V trailer-light outputs
  • Applying the supplied towbar compliance labels

Final fitment depends on the vehicle’s chassis, registered GVM, rear body configuration, spare-wheel arrangement and existing accessories.

Important Note

The 4500kg figure is the maximum towbar rating when using the supplied 70mm towing arrangement. The actual permitted trailer mass is determined by the vehicle’s registered specifications and the lowest-rated component or legal limit within the complete towing combination.

Vehicles registered above 4495kg GVM require additional vehicle compliance for this towbar installation. This compliance is available at an additional cost.

The towing limits listed for the 50mm towball are lower than the maximum capacity available with the supplied 70mm arrangement. The towball and trailer coupling must always match.

The 7-pin socket provides compatible 12V trailer-lighting outputs through the fitted interface. An electric-brake controller, auxiliary charging circuit, electronic trailer-stability connection and other specialised trailer equipment are not included unless separately specified.

The ability to retain a 37-inch spare beneath the chassis depends on the complete wheel and tyre dimensions, carrier arrangement and available vehicle clearance.
