The Fuel Manager 30 Micron Pre-Filter Kit provides an additional line of defence for modern diesel fuel systems by separating water and capturing particulate contamination before the fuel reaches the vehicle’s original fuel filter.
Designed for installation between the fuel tank and the OEM fuel filter, the system removes the bulk of incoming water, dirt and other contamination while leaving the factory filter to perform the final, finer stage of filtration.
The kit uses a 30-micron filter element, clear water-collection bowl with an integrated drain tap, 8mm fuel connections and a universal four-port filter head. It is particularly well suited to diesel four-wheel drives, trucks, touring vehicles and other applications where fuel quality can vary.
This product is supplied unfitted.
Modern common-rail diesel systems operate at extremely high pressures and use fuel-system components with very fine internal tolerances. Water and solid contamination that reaches the high-pressure pump or injectors can contribute to premature wear, corrosion and expensive fuel-system damage.
Diesel contamination can enter the vehicle through:
Installing a dedicated pre-filter provides an additional opportunity to remove this contamination before it reaches the vehicle manufacturer’s primary filter and sensitive injection components.
The supplied 30-micron element is designed specifically for pre-filter use.
Rather than attempting to replace the vehicle’s original fine filter, the 30-micron element removes larger contamination first. This allows the OEM filter to concentrate on the finer filtration for which the engine manufacturer designed it.
This staged filtration arrangement can help:
Water is one of the most damaging contaminants that can enter a diesel fuel system. It can cause corrosion, reduce fuel lubricity and contribute to damage of high-pressure pumps and injectors.
The Fuel Manager system is designed to separate water from the diesel before it reaches the vehicle’s original fuel filter.
Its separation system is also designed to deal with emulsified water — very small droplets suspended within the fuel that may not settle readily in a conventional sediment bowl.
Separated water collects in the clear lower bowl, providing a quick visual indication of contamination within the fuel supply.
This makes it possible to inspect the system during routine vehicle checks and identify water before it progresses farther through the fuel system.
The bowl should be checked regularly, particularly:
An integrated drain tap at the base of the collection bowl allows accumulated water and contamination to be removed without replacing the entire filter assembly.
The bowl should be drained whenever visible water is present. The fuel system should then be correctly primed where required and checked for leaks before the engine is operated.
The Fuel Manager design does not intentionally bypass the filtration element when the filter becomes restricted.
This means contaminated fuel is not simply diverted around the element and sent downstream to the injection system. A restricted filter will instead reduce fuel flow, making correct servicing important.
A heavily contaminated or restricted pre-filter may cause symptoms including:
These symptoms can also be caused by other fuel-system faults and should be correctly diagnosed rather than assuming the filter is the only cause.
The filter head incorporates four ports, providing flexibility when configuring fuel inlet and outlet positions for different vehicle installations.
Two supplied blanking blocks allow unused ports to be closed, while the included 8mm barbed fittings provide connections for the supplied fuel hose.
The final configuration should be selected to provide clean hose routing with minimal unnecessary bends or restrictions.
This version is supplied for compatible fuel systems using approximately 8mm / 5/16-inch hose.
The kit includes:
The vehicle’s existing fuel-line diameter and required fuel flow must be confirmed before installation.
The kit is supplied with mounting hardware for a universal installation rather than a vehicle-specific mounting bracket.
The filter should be installed in a secure, accessible position that allows:
An additional pre-filter is particularly valuable on vehicles that travel away from major population centres or regularly obtain diesel from varied fuel sources.
Suitable applications include:
The filter element is a service item and will gradually collect contamination during use.
As the element loads with dirt and debris, fuel-flow restriction increases. Regular replacement is therefore important to maintain both filtration performance and adequate fuel delivery.
Filter service frequency depends on:
The filter should be inspected as part of normal vehicle servicing and replaced in accordance with the applicable fuel-filter maintenance schedule. Earlier replacement is appropriate after known contamination or where fuel restriction is suspected.
For remote touring, carrying a replacement filter element is a sensible precaution.

This is a universal pre-filter kit and is supplied unfitted. A vehicle-specific mounting bracket is not included.
The 30-micron system is intended to operate before the vehicle’s original diesel fuel filter. It does not replace the OEM filter, which must remain fitted and serviced according to the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements.
Confirm the vehicle fuel-line size, engine fuel-flow requirements and available mounting space before installation.
The clear water bowl should be checked regularly and drained whenever water accumulation is detected.
All fuel connections must be securely clamped and sealed. After installation or filter servicing, correctly prime the fuel system where required and inspect every connection carefully for leaks before operating the engine.
