Isuzu REDARC Tow-Pro Elite V3 Electric Trailer Brake Controller – Fitted

The REDARC Tow-Pro Elite V3 is a professionally fitted electric trailer brake controller designed to provide smooth, adjustable braking for compatible trailers towed by an Isuzu vehicle.

Its two selectable operating modes allow the trailer-braking response to be matched to the driving conditions. Proportional Mode is designed for sealed roads, highways and gravel, while User Controlled Mode provides direct, preset braking control for sand, mud, steep descents and off-road travel.

The main controller is securely concealed inside the vehicle, leaving only the compact adjustment dial visible on the dashboard. The Tow-Pro Elite supports both 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems, making it suitable for compatible 24V Isuzu NPS installations without requiring manual voltage selection.

The controller, dashboard remote, wiring and circuit protection are professionally installed, configured and operationally tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.

Two Selectable Braking Modes

The Tow-Pro Elite provides two distinct trailer-braking modes, allowing the driver to select the response best suited to the road surface, terrain and towing conditions.

Proportional Mode

Proportional Mode senses the Isuzu’s deceleration and applies the trailer brakes at a corresponding level.

Light vehicle braking produces a light trailer-brake application, while harder braking produces a stronger response. This helps the vehicle and trailer slow together without the trailer unnecessarily pushing or pulling against the tow vehicle.

Proportional Mode is suited to:

  • Highway travel
  • Sealed roads
  • Gravel roads
  • General caravan and trailer towing
  • Conditions requiring smooth, progressive trailer braking

User Controlled Mode

User Controlled Mode applies the trailer brakes at the level selected on the dashboard dial rather than automatically matching the Isuzu’s measured deceleration.

This provides a consistent preset braking response and is particularly useful for:

  • Sand
  • Mud
  • Rough tracks
  • Steep descents
  • Low-speed off-road towing

The driver can select the required operating mode through the compact remote control.

Manual Trailer-Brake Override

Pressing the remote-control dial applies the trailer brakes independently of the Isuzu’s service brakes.

This allows the driver to manually apply trailer braking when required and can assist in managing the early stages of trailer sway. The override is also useful for checking trailer-brake operation at low speed after the trailer has been connected.

The braking force applied through the override is determined by the selected controller setting.

Active Calibration

Active Calibration allows the controller to learn its installed orientation and the direction of vehicle travel during normal driving.

The system can calibrate with or without a trailer connected. Once the main controller has been securely mounted, normal vehicle movement allows the unit to establish the information required for proportional braking.

This technology means the main controller can be installed in any orientation, provided it is firmly attached to a fixed surface and cannot move after installation.

12V and 24V Vehicle Compatibility

The Tow-Pro Elite operates across a 9–32V DC range and supports both 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems.

This allows it to be integrated with compatible Isuzu NPS 24V electrical systems without requiring the driver to manually select an operating voltage.

The brake controller manages the trailer-brake circuit only. It does not convert the voltage of the trailer’s stop, tail, indicator, clearance or reverse-light circuits. A suitable trailer-light interface is required where 12V trailer lighting is connected to a 24V Isuzu.

Electric and Electric-Over-Hydraulic Brakes

The Tow-Pro Elite is compatible with conventional electric trailer brakes and suitable electric-over-hydraulic braking systems.

The requirements of the trailer’s braking actuator must be confirmed before installation. Some electric-over-hydraulic or electronic stability-control systems used with a 24V vehicle may require an additional adaptor or dedicated 12V supply.

Compact Hidden Installation

The main Tow-Pro Elite controller is mounted securely in a protected location inside the Isuzu cabin.

Only the compact remote dial remains visible on the dashboard, helping preserve cabin space and avoiding a bulky controller near the driver’s knees or airbag deployment areas.

The remote control provides access to:

  • Trailer-braking force adjustment
  • Manual trailer-brake override
  • Operating-mode selection
  • Calibration indication
  • Braking-output indication
  • System fault information

Adjustable Braking Force

The dashboard dial allows the braking output to be adjusted to suit the connected trailer, load and road conditions.

The correct setting should allow the Isuzu and trailer to decelerate together without the trailer brakes locking or providing insufficient assistance.

The braking level should be checked at low speed whenever:

  • A different trailer is connected
  • The trailer load changes substantially
  • Road or terrain conditions change
  • Trailer-brake maintenance has been completed

LED Status and Diagnostic Indication

The illuminated remote dial communicates the selected operating mode, braking output, calibration status and detected faults.

  • Blue indication: Proportional Mode
  • Green indication: User Controlled Mode
  • Increasing red indication: increasing trailer-brake output
  • Blue and green flashing: Active Calibration in progress
  • Red diagnostic sequences: a detected installation, wiring or trailer-brake fault

Any active fault indication should be investigated before towing because trailer-braking performance may be affected.

Trailer Sway-Control Compatibility

The Tow-Pro Elite is approved for use with compatible AL-KO ESC and Dexter DSC trailer sway-control systems when installed in accordance with the applicable instructions.

Additional electrical components may be required when a trailer stability-control system is connected to a 24V Isuzu.

Professional Installation

This REDARC Tow-Pro Elite V3 is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:

  • Inspection of the Isuzu’s existing towbar electrical system
  • Selection of a suitable protected position for the main controller
  • Secure mounting of the controller inside the vehicle cabin
  • Installation of the compact remote dial in a suitable dashboard location
  • Connection to the Isuzu’s compatible 24V electrical supply
  • Installation of appropriate circuit protection
  • Connection to the vehicle brake-light signal
  • Connection to the trailer electric-brake output circuit
  • Secure routing and protection of the associated wiring
  • Checking power, earth and signal connections
  • Initial setup and Active Calibration
  • Testing Proportional and User Controlled operation
  • Testing the manual trailer-brake override
  • Operational testing of the completed installation

Final component positions and wiring arrangements depend on the Isuzu model, dashboard layout, existing towbar electrics and connected trailer-braking system.

Important Note

This product includes the electric trailer brake controller and professional installation. A towbar, trailer socket, trailer-light voltage interface and trailer braking components are not included unless separately specified.

The Tow-Pro Elite controls compatible trailer brakes but does not convert the voltage of the trailer’s road-lighting circuits.

An additional adaptor or dedicated power supply may be required when operating certain electric-over-hydraulic brakes or electronic trailer stability-control systems from a 24V Isuzu.

The connected trailer brakes, wiring, plug, socket and breakaway system must be in serviceable condition. Trailer-brake operation should be checked at low speed whenever a trailer is connected.

Do not tow while an active controller fault remains unresolved.
