This fitted solar charging system adds a 240W Alvolta Eclipse MAX monocrystalline solar panel and a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 charge controller to a compatible Fuso or Isuzu single-cab vehicle.
The solar panel is professionally mounted to a compatible roof rack or roof-mounting arrangement, then connected through dedicated solar and battery-side circuit protection. The Victron SmartSolar MPPT regulates the panel output for charging a compatible 12V or 24V battery system.
The installation can be configured to supply the vehicle’s compatible main battery bank or an auxiliary battery bank, depending on the vehicle and required electrical arrangement. The complete system is installed, configured and tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.
The system uses one Alvolta Eclipse MAX 240W fixed solar panel. Its 132 monocrystalline cells produce up to 240W under standard test conditions, with module efficiency of up to 22.7%.
The panel measures 1615 x 770 x 35mm and weighs 12.14kg. Its narrow 770mm width assists with installation on compatible single-cab roof layouts where space may be shared with roof racks and other equipment.
The panel has an anodised aluminium frame, an IP65-rated junction box and pre-wired 900mm output cables with MC4-style connectors.
The solar panel is connected to the Victron MPPT controller rather than directly to the battery. The controller converts and regulates the higher panel voltage into the appropriate charging voltage for the connected battery system.
The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 is a solar charge controller for compatible 12V and 24V battery systems. It automatically detects the battery-system voltage and provides up to 30A of regulated charging current.
MPPT stands for Maximum Power Point Tracking. The controller continually adjusts the electrical operating point of the solar panel to obtain the available solar energy as sunlight and panel conditions change.
The controller supports multi-stage adaptive charging and can be configured for compatible battery types and charging requirements.
The SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 automatically selects operation for a compatible 12V or 24V battery system. Its published nominal photovoltaic capacities are:
The installed 240W panel is therefore suitable for the controller’s published nominal power capacity on either supported battery voltage.
Built-in Bluetooth allows the SmartSolar MPPT to connect to the VictronConnect app on a compatible device. The app can be used to configure charging settings and view current or historical solar-system information.
Available information includes:
The controller also includes a VE.Direct communication port for connection to compatible Victron monitoring equipment.
The Victron SmartSolar controller uses a multi-stage adaptive charging algorithm. Charging progresses through the appropriate stages to recharge and maintain the connected battery bank according to the selected battery profile and configured charging parameters.
Charging settings are configured to suit the battery system installed in the vehicle.
A 15A MC4-compatible in-line fuse connector is installed on the solar circuit. It provides overcurrent protection while maintaining an MC4-compatible connection between the solar panel and the associated wiring.
The locking male and female connector arrangement allows the fuse holder to be integrated directly into compatible solar cabling.
The installation includes a 30A MIDI fuse and a dedicated MIDI fuse holder. These components provide battery-side overcurrent protection for the solar charging circuit.
The fuse, cable sizes and electrical arrangement are installed to suit the completed system configuration.
A battery isolator on/off switch is included to provide a dedicated means of isolating the installed circuit. The supplied switch is rated at 275A at 12V and has a removable control knob.
The isolator allows the relevant circuit to be switched off for servicing, inspection or system isolation.
A 25mm nylon cable gland is included for routing the solar cabling through the appropriate vehicle or roof-mounted structure. The gland provides an organised cable-entry point as part of the completed installation.
This solar charging system is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:
The final panel position, cable route and electrical connection depend on the vehicle, roof-rack configuration, available mounting space and battery system.

This is a fitted solar charging system for compatible Fuso and Isuzu single-cab vehicles. Final fitment depends on the vehicle, available roof space and the existing roof rack or mounting arrangement.
The solar panel must remain connected through the Victron MPPT and must not be connected directly to the battery. The completed photovoltaic input must remain within the controller’s maximum voltage, current and power limits.
Do not add further solar panels or alter the panel wiring without first confirming compatibility with the Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 and the existing system configuration.
Actual solar generation varies with sunlight intensity, shading, panel temperature, panel orientation and other operating conditions. The 240W figure is the panel’s rated output under standard test conditions.
