Oricom DTX4200XP Dual Receive UHF CB with 3dBi / 6.5dBi All-Terrain Antenna – Fitted

This professionally fitted UHF communication package combines the DTX4200XP 80-channel UHF CB radio with a versatile all-terrain antenna system that can be configured for either 3dBi or 6.5dBi gain.

The radio’s Dual Receive function allows two different channels to be received and monitored simultaneously. This means the driver can communicate with a convoy on one channel while continuing to monitor another channel, such as the commonly used highway channel.

The antenna system includes a compact 3dBi configuration for hilly and mountainous terrain, together with a 1m fibreglass extension that converts it into a 1.4m, 6.5dBi high-gain antenna for flatter and more open country.

The radio, controller microphone, antenna system and associated wiring are professionally installed, configured and operationally tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.

Dual Receive Technology

The DTX4200XP uses a dedicated secondary receiver to monitor two channels at the same time.

For example, the radio can remain on a convoy channel while simultaneously monitoring the highway channel. A transmission received on either selected channel can be heard without repeatedly switching the radio back and forth.

The main and secondary channels can be swapped using the controls on the microphone, while the secondary receiver volume can be adjusted independently.

Professional-Grade Controller Microphone

The controller microphone places the radio display, speaker and primary controls within easy reach of the driver. Its larger, heavier design provides a substantial feel in the hand and incorporates an extra-large backlit LCD display.

The microphone is rated IP54 for resistance to dust and splashing water within the limits of the rating.

Dedicated buttons provide access to scanning, memory channels, the secondary receiver, channel swapping, menu functions and group-tone scanning.

Intuitive Jog-Wheel Control

The multifunction jog wheel provides quick access to frequently adjusted settings, including:

  • Power on and off
  • Speaker volume
  • Channel selection
  • Squelch adjustment
  • Secondary receiver volume

This allows the primary radio settings to be adjusted without navigating through multiple separate controls.

Dual-Speaker Audio

Speakers are incorporated into both the controller microphone and the radio transceiver. This dual-speaker arrangement delivers louder, clearer received audio inside trucks, four-wheel drives, motorhomes and other vehicles with significant engine or road noise.

A 3.5mm socket is also provided for connection of a compatible optional 8-ohm external speaker.

Fast Channel Scanning

The radio can scan all 80 UHF CB channels in under three seconds, allowing active transmissions to be located quickly.

Three memory groups are also provided, with capacity for 16 channels in each group. This allows commonly used or locally relevant channels to be organised into separate scanning groups.

CTCSS and DCS Codes

The DTX4200XP provides 38 CTCSS and 104 DCS codes. These codes can reduce unwanted conversation heard from other users operating on the same channel when compatible radios are configured with matching settings.

Privacy codes do not make a UHF transmission private or encrypted. Other radios monitoring the same channel without a matching receive filter may still hear the transmission.

Duplex Repeater Operation

Duplex mode supports communication through compatible UHF CB repeaters. A repeater receives and retransmits the signal, potentially extending communication beyond the normal direct radio-to-radio range where a suitable operating repeater is available.

Automatic Power Off

The radio includes selectable automatic power-off settings of one, two or four hours. This can reduce unnecessary battery use if the radio is accidentally left operating after the vehicle has been parked.

Multi-Colour Backlit Display

The large backlit display provides clear channel and operating information. Display brightness can be selected from five preset levels or controlled automatically using the integrated light sensor.

The screen shows information including:

  • Signal strength
  • Transmit power
  • Duplex status
  • Memory group
  • CTCSS or DCS operation
  • Secondary receiver status

Heavy-Duty Die-Cast Radio Chassis

The transceiver uses a heavy-duty die-cast metal chassis suitable for secure installation in a protected vehicle-cabin location.

The slide-in mounting bracket allows the radio to be securely retained while remaining removable for inspection or servicing.

Two Antenna Gain Options

The supplied ANU1206 all-terrain antenna system provides two gain configurations using one heavy-duty elevated-feed base.

3dBi Short Configuration

The short antenna configuration measures approximately 460mm, including the spring base, and provides 3dBi gain.

This lower-gain configuration produces a broader radiation pattern and is suited to:

  • Hilly or mountainous terrain
  • Winding tracks
  • Built-up areas
  • Local vehicle-to-vehicle communication
  • Locations with restricted overhead clearance

6.5dBi Extended Configuration

Installing the supplied 1m fibreglass extension converts the antenna into an approximately 1.4m high-gain configuration with 6.5dBi gain.

This configuration concentrates more of the radio signal toward the horizon and is suited to:

  • Flat and open terrain
  • Highway travel
  • Open regional roads
  • Agricultural areas
  • Longer-distance line-of-sight communication

The extension can be added or removed to match the terrain and communication requirements of the trip.

Elevated-Feed Antenna Base

The antenna uses an elevated-feed design that raises the active antenna section above the mounting point and nearby vehicle bodywork.

This makes the system suitable for compatible bull-bar, mirror-mount and bracket installations where a roof-centred antenna position may not be practical.

Heavy-Duty Spring Base

A heavy-duty large-barrel spring base allows controlled antenna movement when exposed to rough roads, vibration, branches and other normal vehicle operating conditions.

The spring helps reduce the forces transferred directly into the fibreglass antenna sections and vehicle mounting point.

Detachable Fibreglass Antenna Sections

The fibreglass antenna sections are secured to the base using the supplied grub screw. The extension can be fitted or removed with the supplied hex key when changing between the 3dBi and 6.5dBi configurations.

The short configuration can remain fitted when the additional antenna height is unnecessary, while the extension can be carried in the vehicle until required.

Additional 3dBi Antenna

The DTX4200XP Outback Value Pack also includes an ANU913 3dBi antenna with a detachable 640mm fibreglass pole, heavy-duty barrel spring base and 4.5m low-loss coaxial cable.

This provides an additional compact 3dBi antenna option alongside the selectable-gain ANU1206 all-terrain antenna system.

Professional Installation

This UHF radio and antenna package is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:

  • Mounting the radio transceiver in a suitable protected cabin location
  • Installing the controller microphone connection and mounting hardware
  • Connecting the radio to a compatible fused 12V power supply
  • Mounting the selected antenna system in a suitable vehicle position
  • Routing and protecting the antenna coaxial cable
  • Connecting the antenna to the transceiver
  • Checking power, polarity and electrical connections
  • Configuring the radio for normal UHF CB operation
  • Testing main and secondary receiver operation
  • Testing transmission, reception and audio output

Final radio and antenna positions depend on the individual vehicle, dashboard layout, available mounting points and existing accessories.

Important Note

The DTX4200XP radio is designed for a 12V electrical supply and must not be connected directly to a 24V vehicle system. A suitable regulated voltage converter is required for installation in a 24V vehicle unless the vehicle already provides an appropriate 12V circuit.

The final antenna configuration and mounting position depend on the vehicle, terrain in which it will be used, available mounting points and required overhead clearance.

The 3dBi and 6.5dBi figures describe antenna radiation patterns rather than radio transmission power. Actual communication range varies according to terrain, antenna height, installation quality, surrounding structures, vegetation, atmospheric conditions and the equipment used by the other station.

The IP54 rating applies to the controller microphone. The radio transceiver and internal electrical connections must be installed in a suitably protected cabin location.
