Fuso REDARC Tow-Pro Elite V3 Electric Trailer Brake Controller – Fitted

The REDARC Tow-Pro Elite V3 provides smooth, adjustable electric trailer-brake control for compatible Fuso Canter vehicles operating on either 12V or 24V electrical systems.

Selectable Proportional and User Controlled braking modes allow the driver to match the trailer-braking response to sealed roads, gravel, sand, mud and other changing terrain. A manual override function also allows the trailer brakes to be applied independently of the Fuso’s service brakes when required.

The compact main controller is securely concealed inside the vehicle cabin, leaving only the small remote adjustment dial visible on the dashboard. The complete system is professionally mounted, electrically connected, calibrated and tested by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop.

Two Selectable Braking Modes

The Tow-Pro Elite V3 provides two operating modes, allowing the braking response to be selected according to the road surface, terrain and towing conditions.

Proportional Mode

Proportional Mode automatically applies the trailer brakes according to the Fuso’s measured deceleration. Light vehicle braking produces a light trailer-brake application, while harder braking produces a stronger response.

This mode provides smooth, progressive braking and is suited to:

  • Highway driving
  • Sealed roads
  • Gravel roads
  • General caravan and trailer towing
  • Driving conditions where the vehicle and trailer should brake together proportionally

The remote dial adjusts the overall trailer-braking force so the system can be matched to the trailer and its current load.

User Controlled Mode

User Controlled Mode applies the trailer brakes at the level selected on the remote dial rather than calculating the output from vehicle deceleration.

This provides a consistent preset braking response suited to conditions such as:

  • Sand
  • Mud
  • Steep descents
  • Rough tracks
  • Low-speed off-road towing

The driver can change between the two operating modes using the dashboard-mounted remote control.

Manual Trailer-Brake Override

Pressing the remote control dial manually applies the trailer brakes independently of the Fuso’s service brakes.

This allows the driver to apply trailer braking when required and may help manage the early stages of trailer sway without first applying additional tow-vehicle braking.

The manual override is also useful for checking trailer-brake operation at low speed after connecting the trailer.

Active Calibration

Active Calibration continuously monitors the vehicle’s direction of travel and learns the installed orientation of the controller.

The system can calibrate with or without a trailer connected. Once the main controller has been securely mounted, normal driving allows it to determine the correct direction of travel and establish proportional braking operation.

Because calibration compensates for mounting orientation, the main unit can be installed in any position provided that it is securely fixed to a solid surface and cannot move after installation.

12V and 24V Fuso Compatibility

The controller operates across a 9–32V input range and automatically supports compatible 12V or 24V Fuso electrical systems without requiring the driver to select a voltage setting.

It can operate compatible 12V electric trailer brakes from a 24V Fuso without a separate voltage converter for the brake-controller output.

The Tow-Pro Elite does not convert the voltage of the trailer’s stop, tail, indicator, clearance or reverse-light circuits. Those circuits must be correctly configured through the vehicle’s towbar electrical system.

One to Three Trailer Axles

The Tow-Pro Elite V3 is suitable for compatible electric trailer-brake systems with up to three axles.

The trailer brakes, wiring, breakaway system, towbar electrics and complete towing combination must remain within their respective ratings and legal requirements.

Electric and Electric-Over-Hydraulic Braking

The controller supports compatible electric trailer brakes and suitable electric-over-hydraulic braking systems.

  • Compatible electric brakes can be operated from a 12V or 24V Fuso electrical system
  • Compatible electric-over-hydraulic systems can be operated from a suitable 12V installation
  • A suitable adaptor, such as the REDARC EB24A, may be required for electric-over-hydraulic or electronic stability-control equipment connected to a 24V Fuso

The requirements of the trailer’s brake actuator and stability-control system must be confirmed before installation.

Compact Hidden Installation

The main Tow-Pro Elite controller is mounted securely inside the vehicle cabin and concealed behind the dashboard or within another suitable protected location.

Only the compact remote dial remains visible, preserving dashboard space and preventing a bulky controller from interfering with driver legroom or suitable airbag areas.

The remote dial provides access to:

  • Braking-force adjustment
  • Manual trailer-brake override
  • Operating-mode selection
  • Controller status and fault indication

Adjustable Braking Force

The remote dial provides trailer-braking adjustment from 0 to 10.

The appropriate setting depends on the trailer, load, brake condition and road surface. The ideal setting allows the trailer and Fuso to decelerate together without the trailer brakes locking or providing insufficient braking assistance.

The braking level should be checked at low speed whenever the trailer or its load changes.

Colour LED Status Indication

The illuminated remote control displays the selected operating mode, braking activity, calibration status and detected system faults.

  • Blue: Proportional Mode
  • Green: User Controlled Mode
  • Transition toward red: increasing trailer-brake output
  • Blue and green flashing: Active Calibration in progress
  • Diagnostic flash sequences: detected wiring, connection or braking-system fault

An active fault indication must be investigated before towing, as trailer braking performance may be affected.

Park-Brake Feature

When the vehicle remains stationary with the brakes applied, the controller manages the trailer-brake output to provide suitable holding force while reducing unnecessary continuous braking current.

Compatible Stability-Control Systems

The Tow-Pro Elite V3 is approved for use with compatible AL-KO ESC and Dexter DSC trailer stability-control systems when installed according to the applicable instructions.

Additional electrical components may be required where a stability-control system is connected to a 24V Fuso.

Professional Installation

This Tow-Pro Elite V3 is professionally fitted by AAV4x4 at our Brendale workshop. Installation includes:

  • Inspection of the Fuso’s existing towbar electrical system
  • Selection of a suitable protected position for the main controller
  • Secure mounting of the main unit inside the vehicle cabin
  • Installation of the compact remote control in a suitable dashboard position
  • Connection to the vehicle power supply with appropriate circuit protection
  • Connection to the vehicle brake-light signal
  • Connection to the trailer electric-brake output circuit
  • Secure routing and protection of the associated wiring
  • Checking controller power, earth and signal connections
  • Initial controller setup and Active Calibration
  • Testing the manual override and operating modes
  • Operational testing of the completed installation

Final component positions and wiring arrangements depend on the Fuso model, dashboard layout, existing towbar electrics and trailer braking system.

Important Note

This product includes the electric trailer brake controller and professional installation. A towbar, trailer socket, trailer-light interface, electric-over-hydraulic adaptor and trailer braking components are not included unless separately specified.

The Tow-Pro Elite controls compatible trailer brakes but does not convert the voltage of the trailer’s road-lighting circuits.

A suitable additional adaptor may be required when using electric-over-hydraulic brakes or electronic trailer stability control with a 24V Fuso.

Trailer brakes should be checked at low speed whenever a trailer is connected. Do not tow while an active controller fault remains unresolved.
