The Carbon Wired Remote Control Plug Extension Kit allows the wired hand-controller socket to be relocated away from the winch control box and installed in a more convenient position on the vehicle.
It is particularly useful where the winch control box is concealed inside a bullbar or behind a replacement bumper, making the original remote-control connection difficult to reach.
The approximately 1450mm extension lead connects to the compatible winch control box and terminates at a panel-mount remote socket. The socket can be positioned on a suitable bumper panel or inside the engine bay, providing easier access whenever the wired winch controller is required.
This extension kit is designed specifically for compatible Carbon V2 and V3 winches manufactured from July 2021 onwards. It is supplied unfitted.
Winch control boxes are often mounted inside a bullbar or behind a bumper to protect them and maintain a clean vehicle installation. While this can improve the overall installation, it may also make the wired remote socket difficult to reach.
This extension kit moves the connection point to a more accessible position, allowing the hand controller to be connected without reaching behind the bullbar or opening the winch control box.
The 1450mm lead provides flexibility when selecting a suitable location for the remote-control socket.
Depending on the vehicle and bullbar configuration, the socket may be installed:
The selected position must provide sufficient clearance behind the mounting surface for the socket body, wiring and connector.
The extension kit uses a speakON-style connector arrangement with a keyed body and twist-lock coupling. This connector format was originally developed for secure, frequently connected electrical interfaces and is recognised for its positive locking action.
The keyed design aligns the connector with the socket before engagement, while the twist-lock action helps prevent the connection from being accidentally pulled apart during use.
Benefits of this connector style include:
The connector is used in this application for the winch remote-control interface. It is not a winch power connection.
The extension terminates in a panel-mount socket that can be secured to a suitable vehicle surface. This creates a fixed and accessible connection point for the compatible wired winch controller.
A protective cap covers the socket while it is not in use, helping shield the connection opening from dust and debris.
This extension kit is designed for compatible Carbon V2 and V3 winches manufactured from July 2021 onwards.
It does not suit every Carbon winch generation. Earlier V1 winches use a different extension kit and connector arrangement.
The winch version and existing control-box socket should be checked before purchase.
