Protect your Global Xplorer with a professionally installed smart alarm system designed to provide remote security monitoring both while travelling and when the vehicle is unattended.
The GX alarm package combines Wi-Fi connectivity, mobile app control, wireless security sensors, an integrated siren and battery backup in a compact central alarm panel. When connected to a suitable internet-enabled Wi-Fi network, the system can provide remote alarm notifications and allow the owner to monitor and control the alarm from a compatible iOS or Android device.
The AAV4x4 fitted package includes a motion sensor, vibration sensor and water sensor, providing protection against several of the issues most relevant to an expedition vehicle: unauthorised entry or movement, interference with the vehicle, and unexpected water leaks.
One of the major advantages of the GX alarm system is the ability to remain connected to the vehicle while you are away from it.
When the alarm panel is connected to an internet-enabled Wi-Fi network, alarm events can be communicated through the mobile app rather than relying only on an audible siren at the vehicle.
This is particularly useful when the Global Xplorer is parked at a campsite, storage facility, workshop, home or other location while the occupants are elsewhere.
The alarm panel supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi using 802.11 b/g/n, allowing it to connect to a compatible onboard wireless network.
Where the vehicle has an internet connection such as Starlink feeding its onboard Wi-Fi network, the alarm system can use that connection for app-based remote communication while the network remains powered and online.
This makes the system particularly well suited to a Global Xplorer equipped for connected remote touring.
A compatible smartphone app provides remote access to the alarm system from iOS and Android devices.

The fitted package includes one wireless motion sensor for monitoring movement within the protected area of the vehicle.
When the alarm is armed, movement detected within the sensor's configured coverage area can trigger an alarm event and associated notification.
This provides an additional layer of protection beyond simply monitoring individual doors or openings.
A dedicated wireless vibration sensor is included in the AAV4x4 package.
The vibration sensor provides another method of detecting interference with the vehicle and can respond to physical disturbance rather than relying solely on interior movement detection.
This is particularly relevant to an expedition vehicle where valuable equipment, storage areas and external accessories may remain on the vehicle while it is unattended.
The package also includes a wireless water sensor, giving the alarm system a useful monitoring role beyond theft protection.
In a motorhome or expedition vehicle, an unnoticed plumbing leak can cause substantial damage to cabinetry, flooring, electrical equipment and stored belongings.
The water sensor can be positioned in an appropriate vulnerable area of the build so that detected water can generate an alarm event.
The central alarm panel incorporates an audible siren rated at approximately 80dB at 1 metre.
When the alarm is triggered, the siren provides an immediate audible warning inside and around the vehicle while the connected communication system handles remote notifications.
The alarm panel incorporates a 3.7V 800mAh rechargeable backup battery.
This provides reserve power if the panel temporarily loses its primary power supply, allowing the security system to continue operating for a period rather than immediately shutting down.
Actual backup operating time depends on system configuration, wireless activity, communication method and battery condition.
Compatible alarm sensors communicate wirelessly with the central panel using a 433MHz wireless connection.
This reduces the amount of additional cabling required throughout the motorhome and also makes it possible to expand or reposition compatible sensors as the security requirements of the vehicle change.
The alarm platform supports up to 32 wireless zones, allowing substantially more than the three sensors supplied with the standard AAV4x4 package to be incorporated when required.

The alarm panel uses multiple LED status indications to provide an at-a-glance indication of functions such as network status, arming state, alarm state and configuration mode.
This makes it easier to confirm the current state of the security system without needing to open the mobile app every time the vehicle is entered or left.
The alarm platform also supports cellular communication on compatible configurations, providing additional notification options where the required cellular hardware, SIM service and supported mobile network are available.
Depending on the configured cellular service, this can provide features such as SMS alerts and alarm phone calls in addition to Wi-Fi app notifications.
Cellular service is not included as standard with the Wi-Fi fitted package and requires separate compatible network service and configuration.
A Global Xplorer can contain considerably more equipment than a conventional vehicle, including electrical systems, batteries, communications equipment, appliances, personal belongings and touring gear.

Remote Wi-Fi notifications require the alarm system to remain connected to a compatible 2.4GHz internet-enabled Wi-Fi network. If the vehicle's router, Starlink system or other internet connection is switched off or has no internet access, remote app communication will not be available until connectivity returns.
Optional cellular features require compatible cellular hardware, an active SIM/service and a supported mobile network. Cellular service costs are not included unless separately specified.
