The AAV 360° Surround View Camera System is designed to give drivers of large trucks, expedition vehicles, motorhomes and work vehicles a much clearer view of the areas immediately surrounding the vehicle.
Using four exterior cameras positioned at the front, rear, left and right of the vehicle, the system combines the individual camera images to create a stitched 360° bird's-eye surround view. This helps expose areas that are normally difficult or impossible to see from the driver's seat, particularly when parking, reversing or manoeuvring a large vehicle in confined spaces.
The system supports 3D and 2D viewing modes, 1080P video, integrated DVR recording and both CVBS and HDMI video output, allowing it to form the basis of a high-quality surround-vision installation using a compatible display.
This product is supplied as the camera system kit only and is unfitted. Vehicle installation, camera positioning, electrical integration, final calibration and display installation are not included unless separately specified.
Conventional reversing cameras provide useful rearward visibility but still leave substantial areas along the sides and front corners of a large vehicle unseen.
This system uses four strategically positioned cameras to capture the area surrounding the vehicle. The video processor then combines those images into a single panoramic view that represents the vehicle from above.
The resulting bird's-eye image makes it considerably easier for the driver to judge the position of the vehicle relative to nearby objects.
The completed system uses cameras positioned to monitor:
When correctly mounted and calibrated, the four images are stitched together to provide continuous visual coverage around the vehicle rather than requiring the driver to interpret four completely separate camera feeds.
The surround-view processor supports both 2D and 3D viewing modes, allowing the driver to choose the most useful perspective for the situation.
The traditional 2D bird's-eye view is useful for accurately judging vehicle position when reversing or parking, while 3D surround views provide an alternative perspective of obstacles and surrounding areas.
High-definition 1080P video capability provides substantially more visual detail than older low-resolution analogue camera systems.
Clearer video can make it easier to identify kerbs, bollards, vehicles, people and other obstacles around a large vehicle, particularly where accurate positioning is required.
In addition to providing live surround vision, the system incorporates DVR recording functionality.
Camera footage can be recorded for later playback when the system is configured with suitable recording storage. This gives the camera system an additional role beyond manoeuvring assistance and allows recorded video to be reviewed when required.
When correctly integrated with the vehicle, selecting reverse can automatically trigger the appropriate rear camera and surround-view display.
This gives the driver immediate rearward visibility without needing to manually change camera views before reversing.
The system can also be integrated with the vehicle's indicator circuits so that the relevant side camera view is displayed when the left or right indicator is activated.
This is particularly useful on trucks and motorhomes where the area beside the vehicle can extend well beyond what is visible through the mirrors alone.
Camera views can also be selected manually, allowing the driver to inspect an individual side of the vehicle even when reversing or indicator triggers are not active.
Depending on the configured display mode, the driver can access views such as:
The system provides both CVBS and HDMI video output, giving greater flexibility when integrating the surround-view system with a compatible vehicle display.
HDMI provides a digital high-definition connection where supported, while CVBS allows integration with compatible conventional vehicle monitors and video equipment.
The display or monitor used with the system must have an appropriate compatible video input.
Surround-view technology is particularly valuable on larger vehicles because the driver's seating position, vehicle height, body width and long wheelbase can create substantial blind areas immediately around the vehicle.
The system is particularly suited to vehicles such as:
The system is designed primarily as a driver-visibility aid for situations where accurate vehicle placement matters.
It can assist when:
The camera system is not limited to parking and urban driving. A 360° view can also provide valuable information when positioning a large vehicle through technical terrain.
Camera views can help the driver monitor the position of the front corners, rear body and sides of the vehicle relative to rocks, embankments, trees, washouts and other obstacles that may be difficult to see directly from the cab.
A 360° camera system requires correct calibration after the cameras have been mounted to the vehicle.
The processor uses the calibrated camera positions and vehicle dimensions to align the four images and create the combined overhead representation. Correct mounting position and calibration are therefore critical to obtaining an accurate and useful surround image.
Large expedition bodies, trays and service bodies can differ considerably in width and length, so calibration needs to be completed for the individual vehicle rather than relying on a generic setting.
Correct camera placement is essential for achieving effective coverage around the vehicle.
Cameras should be positioned to provide suitable overlap between adjacent views while maintaining a clear field of vision around the front, rear and sides of the vehicle. Final positioning depends on the body design, mirrors, tray, motorhome body and other accessories fitted to the vehicle.

This product is supplied as a kit only and is not fitted. Installation, electrical integration, camera mounting and final 360° calibration are not included.
A compatible display is required to view the camera system. The system provides CVBS and HDMI video outputs; the chosen display must provide a suitable compatible input.
DVR recording requires suitable storage media and configuration. Storage capacity or recording media should not be assumed to be included unless specifically stated with the supplied package.
Automatic reverse and indicator-triggered views require connection to the appropriate vehicle circuits during installation.
The 360° camera system is a driver assistance and visibility aid. It does not replace mirrors, direct observation or normal safe driving and reversing procedures.
